New book review - my take on Walter Mosley's latest over at the Times.

Tonight, Billie Piper is on the Charlotte Church Show. Will there be mention of a particular upcoming project? Maybe, maybe not, I'm as in the dark as anyone else... all I know is, someone contacted me on the show's behalf about reading an excerpt, so we'll see what actually ends up on the telly.

Is it wrong that whenever I see a Leon Uris book I think of Cletus from the Simpsons? 'Pour casser une carapace de tortue, y'a pas mieux que Leon Uris.'

Is it wrong to have made no plans for Valentine's Day, and be happy with that?

Is it wrong to make a wager with a co-worker on how long before Smug Married Colleague and Smug Giggly Intern hook up?

Is it wrong to spend five quid on twelve biscuits, thereby getting ever deeper into the twisted game of Friday Coffee Break one-upmanship?

Is it wrong to save someone's number on your mobile under 'MBP' where MBP stands for Mouth-Breathing Pikey?

Is it wrong that while the phrase 'man-hating feminist' makes me want to retch, there seem to be a lot of self-professed 'feminist' bloggers who do, if not actually hate men, seem bent on endlessly ridiculing them?

Is it wrong to blow an afternoon shopping on the Web and then completely forget what you've bought until a package comes to the door?

Is it more wrong if it's a package of knickers in the wrong size?

Oh, and before you ask - I heard the rumours too, and think she would be absolutely lush. And not only because of the Doctor Who connection.

You know, I love Charlie Brooker. And I love David Mitchell. And of course, I love Doctor Who.

But when Charlie Brooker writes of the new Mitchell and Webb Apple Mac campaign, 'Doctor Who, incidentally, would definitely use a PC,' well, I think maybe I like Charlie Brooker and David Mitchell just an ickle bit less.

Because Doctor Who would not use a PC. Doctor Who would not soil his fingers on a Silicon Graphics. He would not give the time of day to Sun, Amiga, Next, Cray, Xerox Alto, Datapoint 2200 or indeed any other box you care to come up with.

Doctor Who uses a quantum computer, fool. And don't even ask about operating system, because he manipulates the qubits directly with his mind.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

I spent a wholly obscene amount of money today on silk underwear.

That is all.
